Welcome to CreatorUp! – The Online Web Series School

Hi Creative People!

Web series are fun, fresh show ideas made by all kinds of people, skyrocketing to reach millions of other people online each day.  An independently produced single episode of a web series can reach more people than a theatrical film release or a network television slot.  Why? Web series reach a specific audience that can relate to it and interact with the creators, so there’s higher engagement, a sense of community around the show, and the urge to easily share it with friends online. From a comedy about soccer moms, to a cooking show for Italian food lovers, to a high adrenaline surfing reality series, to an iPhone app review show — web series offer more variety than traditional media, leaving room for new voices and diverse perspectives in an entertainment media landscape that has been dominated by big-wigs for over a century.

Learning about how to make a web series should be just as fun as watching a web series.  We love all kinds of digital shows online and we’re passionate about teaching you how to turn your great idea into a show you can share with your online audience.  You have a great idea for a web series around your passion or interest, and there’s a perfect audience out there just waiting to see your show.  Why haven’t you made or finished it yet?  Maybe you weren’t sure how, didn’t know where to start, or didn’t know who to ask.

CreatorUp! is the place for you to learn the art and process of making a web series with great teachers who really know their stuff.  We aim to make learning fun, and we want to help you make your show every step of the way.  We believe in teaching creators everything they need to know so that they can get the full benefit of their work, both artistically and financially.  It’s exciting to see fresh new voices break out online – or even turn that show into its own network or business.  We’ve reached out to our incredibly talented creative colleagues to become our teachers and mentors – to create the same kind of collaborative experience we found to be so exciting for us during our time in film school at USC.  We loved the opportunity to show up to class everyday and share our creative work with others – from the enthusiasm about how awesome something looked – to the critiques of how that storyline was impossible to understand – it always helped us to build something that we could be proud to share with the world as a unique representation of our perspective.

We welcome you to our online educational platform CreatorUp!  The website is designed to let you learn exactly what you want, when you want, so you can complete your web series.  Ask us questions, and get useful answers!  Workshop your next project in a collaborative, interactive, real-time setting — with encouraging feedback from creative friends and the most exciting digital creators from around the globe.

We can’t wait to watch your next web series,
Mike, Sara, and Priyesh (The CreatorUp! Team)
